Rememberance Day

I just read a post via Facebook that mentioned an article in the Edmonton sun that allows PUBLIC schools to Opt out of Remembrance Day. WTF??? How is this allowed? Remembrance Day is not something that people should be allowed to opt out of!!!

The soldiers weren’t allowed to stop mid battle and say “sorry, I’ve had enough and I’m going home. I’m going to opt out of the rest of this!!”

Our soldiers fought for our country in emplorable conditions that most if us can’t even fathom the idea of. A lot of them volunteered to be able to go and make sure that our country was not run by the third reich or the Japanese emporer.

I don’t understand how some of the “new to Canada” people can say they don’t want to participate. They say it didn’t affect them, however I must explain what a world war is. This means it encompasses “the whole world!!” I can think of only a very select few countries in South Africa and South America that may not have been affected as much, but Canada was!!!

If you choose to make Canada your home, you choose to remember those that fought for Canada’s freedom from those that opposed is and our allies!!!
